I am looking for some suggestions from those of you that may have experienced what i'm looking for.

I'm currently using m-audio usb interface and think I would like to go firewire or onboard and also have to ablility for midi I/O. My concern is finding one that is compatible with win7 and not over $300. I have researched a few but they wern't compatible.

Firebox. Can't beat it for the price, and I guess it works with Windows 7

firebox is good unless u have a laptop that does not have firewire built in. express cards do not work with it ... check their tech support forums for more details on it.

I say avoid FW unless you need 6+ channels etc.

Sweet, i'm looking into right now. I just think m-audio doesn't make that great of an interface, I get a little feedback when I have any program oriented to music running. Think its USB, I've tested my sound card, latency setting, and so on.

i'm on pc with multi firewire ports

Just got rid of the m-audio usb interface for the pre-sonus firewire. I think this was a better option all around hopefully.
