So the other night, while putzing around on youtube, I came across the four following videos.
Now I grew up working with Sound Forge, and it was the first audio utility I worked with for fun as well as professionally when I worked with the radio grou(reminds me I still need to get out the studio check tracks we made). I was rather suprised though, to see the Rusko, primarily writes his tracks in:
Acid
<object width="425" height="344">That being said, who has used Acid in the last... four years? I was really suprised that most of his work comes straight from ACID

I used to love acid, but gave it up because of no vst support, or maybe I didn't understand vst's at the time

I made my first tune ever in Acid pro back when I was like 13
Always seemed like kind of a joke program, but if Rusko uses it, you can't argue with choons like that

the new version of acid can pretty much hold it's own when stacked up against any other daw. it has vst support and warping tracks built in like in ableton (since version 4 i think). i know a lot of guys putting out big tunes using acid (and fruity loops also). this goes back to the whole argument of people thinking certain gear or programs make better tunes. only thing that can make a good track is the person writing it and knowing your program.
written in acid:

Swayzak uses only Reason... you can make music with anything, so long as you know how to use it.

yup, a great deal of mazi's stuff is on reason too. especially a lot of the old audio soul project stuff

I guess that's sort of what I was getting at with this thread. Albeit I was absolutely suprised that anybody is using Acid Pro these days. Dont hear about it, so I guess out of earshot, out of reality maybe.

Ive watched these rusko is prett entertaining. Im constantly suprised as to what people are using, Like benga using flsudio with logic 5, logistics using reason at his kitchen table with what looks like an acer he bought from walmart. Just goes to show its about how you use it not what you use.

Yea, Jacob London (and Dave and Bob seperately) use FL. I've tried that program and it confounds me... doesn't seem to be as user friendly as other DAWs, but they seem to make it work well.

 exactly, rusko recording "rats in the kitchen" vocal samples through a usb mic, is a prime example too

I wrote a few tracks in FL ten years ago, and I can surely say that it was the easiest way (for me) to go about it. I wasn't a big fan of cubase, or logic a year after that, and got into protools for a while...
all aside, I figured there would be more "dubstep sucks" or "acid and friuit loops blow" commentary, I'm glad there isn't :)

I think that's why I have a hard time figuring it out... the rudamentary system is similar to the Magix programs, but it's nothing like Ableton or Logic in how the tracks are programmed, so it baffles me.

I used to love acid, but gave it up because of no vst support, or maybe I didn't understand vst's at the time :lol:Same here. Though Roy Davis Jr said he whipped up "Rock shock" in 15 minutes in it, & it became one of his biggest singles.
I'd prefer to use Live5 over the newest Acid. Heck, I'd prefer to use Buzz over Acid.

I have it, and use it. Although, I use two other programs along with it to make tunes, sounds and samples.

..... I don't think it matters at all what DAW your using. it's just a template basically with each using different engines. I think it does however matter what type of instruments and FX's you use. Lets keep in mind alot of these top producers are using thousands of dollars of software and hardware. Let alone the AD DA Conversion. A TR 909 kick out of an actual 909 hardware is analog.(Quality sound) However when I use a TR 909 Digital instrument it has to replicate that sound Digitally. And most of us do this without conversion..... ok... I'm done!!! With this being said I'm not saying at all you can't get big sound with stock DAW's and what they come with. It all does come down to knowledge. Very Cool Tom Middleton Video
