This year as every year, the Colorado crews join forces once again to stand UNITED against the face of adversity and poverty. It is our mission once again to collect a substantial amount of money and toys for needy families during the Holiday season. Join us on the dance floor as we celebrate life and everything it means to the families recieving these donations. Help us put a smile on a kids face this year and put one on yours too. Together we can help those growing up in poverty become respectable and happy adults. Many thanks to everyone that has made this possible the last 4 years and Happy Holidays from our familes to yours!
Tickets are only $15 or a toy donation of equal or greater value at the door. 100% of proceeds benefit the TFT foundation. No stuffed animals as they carry disease.
Here's the direct link to the Colorado Music Buzz article party people! Show is going to be awesome this year! =)

How about after your show, you show us what your attendance was, how much money you took in and PROOF of how much you actually give to charity? All reputable charities give receipts for tax purposes. Let's see yours!
I remember asking you this same question last year and never getting a response. What about the year before? What about proof from ANY of your "charity" events that funds raised were actually donated to needy people and not to your own pocket?

Actually I dropped Annie's residency with my company a while ago for a multitude of reasons. Mostly not bringing any heads through the door then expecting large amounts of pay from me.
I any case I will be doing a formal presentation to Sgt. Escobar who is running the local chapter this year at the event with the check and everything. BTW the reason the flier says we're sponsored by them this year is cause they will be on site taking donations at the event.
In any case I am super excited about the event this year! Thanks to everyone involved!

Actually I dropped Annie's residency with my company a while ago for a multitude of reasons. Mostly not bringing any heads through the door then expecting large amounts of pay from me.
lol... the most you ever paid me for a gig was $20 and the only thing I ever argued with you about was shitty time slots. The money you owe me was for much more than that.... LIKE GETTING MY GODDAMN CAR IMPOUNDED. At least get your facts straight.
True, I stopped promoting myself a long time ago. Stopped caring so much in general. Yep, you dropped me before I got to drop you, congratulations.
To be honest, after how bad you burned Poly and I over the Casino party fiasco, we wanted to tell you off right then and there and tell you where you could shove your residencies. We actually thought by holding back that you'd actually pay us all the money you owe us. Silly me to think you'd actually follow through with a promise.
By the way, now that I don't care about being nice to Dave so he'll pay us, I'll tell all of you a story. He promised all of these kids that attended his casino party that there would be prizes for their winnings at the poker and blackjack tables that Poly and I ran for him all night long (after being promised cash compensation at the end of the night). The prizes were never produced. At the end of the night, all of the kids with winning tickets came to Poly and I for prizes. We told them the prizes were never brought to us and to ask Dave about it. Some came back and said Dave told them Polymorph had the prizes! Wow! Throw us under the bus to cover your own ass?!?! That's the lowest thing you've ever done to us Dave. It took a lot of restraint for us to not verbally tear your head off! You ran off and hid like a little bitch. You tend to disappear at the end of all of your parties because that's when you usually tell everyone you will pay them. You're a fucking weasel! I'm surprised that your jaw has only been broken once.
I'm glad to hear you'll be presenting donations LIVE IN PERSON WITH WITNESSES to Sgt. Escobar. That's wonderful! (and I truly do mean that) However, you never addressed my previous question.... What about proof on all of your other charity events? The coat drive, the breast cancer benefits, the heart association benefit, the other toy drives... where's the proof, Dave?

I also know LOTS of people he's burned that are as pissed as I am. I just think I'm the only one that will stand up and say something.

More locals need to take note and either demand to get paid a fair amount, or stop playing for people. I'd like to think that all promoters in Denver are fianlly paying all their DJs a fair amount, but something tells me that's not the case.

lol thought as much. This party is a benefit, so I couldn't imagine charging a promoter, but other events... yea, you book 50 DJs at a non-charity event and I'm wiling to bet 10-20 actually get paid (fiscally, it's impossible to pay 50 DJs a 'fair' amount and still make money on an event). Great for the promoter, shitty for the established DJs that get squeezed out of gigs because they refuse to play for free, while others will.

Yeah, he's doing the same thing to me. Got a funny text from him yesterday. If I had a dollar for every time I've been called a fat ugly bitch... lol.
As long as I was involved with him I never saw any proof. I also asked him a few times and got blown off. This issue has bothered me for a long time.
On unadio, he said this "I gave all my tax write off stuff to Mike the past couple years." If I recall correctly in my years of working with Dave, he didn't start doing anything with Mike until shortly before his death. And to pin his resource to a deceased member of our community when it's probably a lie is just fucking low.... even for scum like Dave.

I really love how everyone is questioning me in this thread. Of course the money and the toys have gone to TFT every year and yes if you'd like to contact them yourselves and ask there is the contact info. Ask them about the pickup from the Root last year and us bringing it in the year before. In fact I can go ahead and find my certificates of appreciation from the TFT program the last 3 years in my storage unit and scan it in if you'd like.
I didn't deal with the tax forms the last 2 years cause I didn't really care about getting one. I let the Root take it because they donated their venue.
Shame on all of you for attacking me in a thread about getting together to help out needy kids. You guys know how much time and effort I spend on this thing every year to get us together for said cause? Hundreds of hours, all the booking, all the press, getting the venues organized, working with the Marine Corps on things. Hell, the only reason they haven't wanted to be at the event the last two years is cause it was in Boulder and their facility is located in Aurora. I do this cause my family to relied on programs like this when I was younger. It means a lot to me to be able to help these families every year.
I don't care if I've had some personal issues with people with my other shows or not but it's pretty fucking low to call me a thief from the charity events I've thrown and dedicated my free time to. Shame on you guys.

I don't even think I have my tax write off crap from years ago. I'm not that great at keeping things like that organized. If you call the local Breast Cancer Center down at the center off Lincoln and I-25 (like south, by Parker) they should have the records there from both years I did Beats for the Cure (if they even release that kind of info as a public record).
Seriously though I think it's funny you keep questioning me. Obviously you have nothing better to do with your time but grope and bitch like you always do.
The American Heart Association should have a record of me as well and as for the coats back in the day well we took those down to the 7 news drop off at their station, that was in like 2005 btw.

I never understood how promotors who couldn't pay their DJ's/performers/workers etc still continue to throw shows months or years after without still paying them. It's kind of insulting actually
Because DJs continue to play for them for free. It's pretty easy to load a flyer with 20+ DJs when people are willing to play for free.

Hmmm...looks like that may not be the case...
By delving deeper into the world that is Big Johnson Entertainment we took dateline on a search of DJ's that have played for Dave Johnson and not been paid...

Hate to call you out Dave but, when I played for you, you wouldn't even give me a beer. Wicked Wayz has dropped out of this show because there is a question about the money going to where it is supposed to go. If you can show some proof that the events in question did in fact provide money to the charity that was supposed to benefit, then WW will be happy to support. However, there's also the matter of two of our residents have a pretty serious problem with you personally and we don't feel that it's right to give our support when that is the case. Wicked Wayz does not wish to get into the middle of your argument but only hopes that the matter can be resolved in a professional manner.
Good luck in your endeavors.

I do this event for poor families and children that need help! And when I collected the toy's last year I know helping is the right thing to do... Even though Dave has made mistakes we are all humans! Doing the show again for those children is the most important reason for doing it! Please I know your upset but bringing the show down only hurts the amount of toy's that we can give toy's for tots... Dave's heart is in the right place and as an associate I have in the past and will again supervise the event to make sure the children receive there toy's!! Peace and utmost respect Scales Music productions.
So in essence please refrain from demoting the shows any of them we need our music and our culture and being positive is how we will make a pure scene grow!

I know we've had our spats in the past, but this isn't smear campaign. Your evasive answers to simple questions and lack of ANY records suggests good reason for incredulity. I'm not saying you're stealing or any other libel... I'm just saying that you've raised enough red-flags to warrant a bit of curiosity.
I'm also not saying that you're entitled to provide us with this information, by any means. What I am saying is that whatever integrity you have is at stake. Integrity, if righteous, that is easily protected by simply posting a few contacts (as you claim to have no record, financial or otherwise, of your charitable dealings) that we can call to ask a few questions.
Even though I often set the bar much lower for ravers, I've never donated my time, energy, or scant funds to an organization that I hadn't fully researched.. and I wouldn't expect any less from ravers who attend charity events. Their money is as good as mine, and if they're not going to do their homework.. another curious party should do it for them.
Would you donate time, money or effort to an organization that keeps no records? Wouldn't that make you wonder where the money is really going? Wouldn't it piss you off if you'd put your name and reputation on the line for that organization, only to find that rumors about that organization have begun to tarnish your own reputation? These are all valid points that others have made, and you've responded indirectly (or not at all) to all of them.
Feel free to oversimplify your label of myself and other curious people as "haters," but the fact remains that there are some weighty questions looming about your business practices. I don't really see myself as a Dave Johnson "hater," so much as I see myself as a Dave Johnson "red-flag-spotter."
I anxiously await your reply so we can vindicate you of this awkward position that shoddy record keeping has afforded you. To speed the process, would you simply provide a list of organizations for whom your company has held charitable events, along with a person someone can talk to about them?
It really is that simple.

I already listed the organizations that you can contact in this thread, page 3 or 4 I think? I have also told you to contact Mike at the Root to check on his verification of things as he took the tax write off stuff the past two years for donating his venue.
The Breast Cancer foundation that is located off Lincoln and I-25 (south, like by Parker) is listed in the yellow pages and should have account of my records there.
The Toys for Tots organization may or may not have record on our past donations the last 3 years but you can go ahead and ask them if you'd like. MLE delivered the toys and the money the first year so you can hit her up for verification on that one.
All in all I'm not being dishonest about my charity events and am letting you know where you can find the records if you so wish to pursue checking them out.
Sgt. Escobar knows about our event this year as well and they will be there collecting the Toys and money with us this year as we're in Denver not Boulder.
I will make it a point to keep better records from now on for all of you so that you can all see it. Dismals if you read the rest of the thread I have not been dodging the questions, just simply answering people's questions yet again because people are not reading it. Thanks all! :)

Why did all the drama go down in a thread about charity? If you have a personal problem or if you REALLY feel there is a cause for concern about what has happened in the past, why not start a public awareness thread?
The bashing and personal drama brought here was very uncalled for and seemed to be immature. We are all grown and should not act like children when we should be being professional or respecting each others and our own privacy.
Just an FYI, personal things should remain that...
Then again this is my opinion and I am sure someone here will say I should shut up or I don't know what I am talking about.

Have you ever come and danced with us to help out someone less fortunate then yourself? If you show up Saturday maybe I'll change my mind but as far as I and the rest of our industry that are donating a ton of our time are concerned you're a tool for not supporting this awesome event in the first place.

The point is if you are going to talk shit, at least don't be bitch and hide behind a fake name. That shit is just stoopid, own your words and actions like an adult. Use the name you normally post under, or the name people people know you as using.

whats the fun in that?? why create drama when you can HAVE FUN....i mean thats the whole point of the board is something fun to go on an kill time...if someone makes a fake profile and people respond to it the blame lies with both the one who created the profile and the people who actually get baited and respond...
just saying why not talk shit with a fake profile and on the same hand if people know its fake why respond or even quote anything that is said by the fake profile??

Can anyone involved in the event provide a legit 501(c)(3) reconizing itself as a legit organization recognized by the U.S. Marine Corps as the fund raising and support organization for the Program? As writting in the bylaws of the Department of the Navy - Marine Corps Order 5726.14F Sec. 1, C, 6.?
"(6) The American public supports Toys for Tots as a charity
benefiting needy children. The integrity of the Toys for Tots Program is
essential to maintaining the public trust and confidence. It is essential,
therefore, that donations to and funds raised for Toys for Tots be handled so
as to comply with state and Federal laws, IRS regulations, and charity
standards. Therefore, all donations and funds raised using the Toys for Tots
name and logo must be managed by an organization that meets these criteria.
Accordingly, the Foundation (an IRS recognized (501)(c)(3) not-for-profit
public charity) is the organization recognized by the U.S. Marine Corps as
the fund raising and support organization for the Program. The Foundation
manages all donations and funds raised under the Toys for Tots name and logo."

If you want an answer make a call and verify the facts. That is the only way you will be certain on this, no matter what anyone says about the situation. So either do something about finding facts or just move on.

I can't believe Maki didn;t get jumped on for his incorrect interpretation of the legalese:
The 501c3 they are talking about IS Toys for Tots.
The only stipulation for donating parties is : " It is essential,
therefore, that donations to and funds raised for Toys for Tots be handled so
as to comply with state and Federal laws, IRS regulations, and charity
