Big news, techno lovers! November 14, right after our BMoCA festivities, CMKY has the pleasure and the honor of presenting to Colorado some real legends of techno as part of an extremely limited number of North American performances! Don't sleep, this is huge!
Berlin’s Chain Reaction comes to Boulder
Communikey to host Berlin techno legends Substance & Vainqueur
Saturday, November 14
12midnight – 4am // 21 + // $15
B Side Lounge // 2017 13th Street Boulder 80302

Chain Reaction's SUBSTANCE & VAINQUEUR are presenting "SCION VERSIONS" in a few select cities in North America this November. Noting the 20th anniversary of the Berlin reunification, Peter Kuschnereit (aka Substance) and Rene Lowe (aka Vainqueur) will perform in Boulder for Communikey alongside Detroit’s own legend Clark Warner.
Moritz Von Oswald and Mark Ernestus created one of the most important bodies of work in the history of electronic music with their releases as Basic Channel, Maurizio, Burial Mix, and Rhythm & Sound. They created the Chain Reaction label to release the music of other artists, introducing the world to Monolake, Vladislav Delay, Porter Ricks, Substance & Vainqueur and their collaborative Scion project. Pete has worked at the legendary Hardwax store in Berlin for 18 years, a landmark of electronic music, and of the Berlin reunification. Their live sets as Scion have taken them around the world, playing everywhere from Berghain in Berlin to the Labyrinth Festival in Japan. It is an honor to host these esteemed artists as we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall.
There’s a reason Clark Warner’s DJ sets are unlike anything you’ve heard before. Warner was instrumental in developing Plus 8 Records and Minus, working with Richie Hawtin, John Acquaviva, and some of techno’s most profound artists while helping produce legendary events. Clark Warner makes unusual sounds fit in perfectly, fusing left-of-center audio with the newest dance pulses. Warner rightly concludes: “It has to have soul, human or alien, if I’m going to play it.”
