Wow. The new warping is pretty amazing. Took me 45 minutes to re-learn, but I got it now. Anyone running the new version?

I'm still trying to get the new warping down. Other than that, it appears to be very similar to 7... except new coloring scheme in the sequencing page.

Can someone explain exactly how it's different? Gotten pretty used to the warping in 7, and haven't been able to find a good video on how it's different (for DJing especially) in 8...

Ok here is a brief explanation of what you need to do different if you are just warping tracks.
1.Hit the warp button and your yellow marker will show.
2.Find the sweet spot of where you wanna warp set the first marker.
3.Right click the marker and set 1.1.1. It's an option in the menu.
4.Than warp straight from here. (note:to move the marker you hold shift and click with mouse.
5.Set one marker at the end of the track.
6.Done.
There's still other stuff I haven't learned yet, but the engine is a lot smarter.
I fear change. Still on 7.

Been using Live 8 for about 3 months now and still don't like the new warping system. In fact usually if I'm warping an a capella track the first thing I do is load them in live 7 and warp them that way. I do like the new warping modes however, it sounds better overall.

i like the new method too, at least concept wise. it did take some getting used to. the way i always describe it is that time is now the constant and you move the beat around to fall into it, rather than the beat being constant and you move the clock around it (v7 and below).

Yea, I'm not sold on the change and I don't know if it will actually benefit me yet. It seems like more of a hinderance when I try to set warping points than in the past...but I'm still learning it, so we'll see.

If you go under preferences then the look and feel tab, you can turn off the "Permanent Scrub Areas" this turns off the little play head or mini speaker you get when running your mouse over the waveform, turning this to off allows you to zoom in on about twice as much area at the top of the waveform and also allows you to use the bottom half of the waveform to zoom without hitting the shift key.

I've been digging it. It takes a lot of time and the mixes still don't sound right but I know I am going to get it right soon :)

If it was for Max for Live, I would totally skip Live8... I'd think Live9 is due sometime next year IMHO.
